Androgenetic alopecia Androgenetic alopecia, also called androgenetic alopecia, is a common hair loss condition in both sexes, and it is a genetic problem related to the disorder of androgenic hormones, especially dihydrotestosterone. In general, the hair growth cycle begins in small structures located under the skin called hair follicles, where each hair grows normally for two to six years, and then enters the resting phase for several months, then falls out later, and then a new growth cycle begins. Increased levels of the hormone androgen can affect hair follicles, which can lead to a delay in the growth of new hair to replace lost hair, as well as a short hair growth cycle and the growth of thicker and shorter strands of hair. 3. Thyroid problems Acute and chronic imbalances in thyroid hormone levels caused by hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism can cause hair loss. The predominant pattern of hair loss associated with thyroid problems is widespread hair loss over the entire scalp rather than in separate areas of the head. 4. Estrogen dominance Estrogen dominance is a disorder that occurs as a result of an imbalance of female hormones, which is caused by the following and can lead to hair loss in both sexes: • Increased estrogen production. • Decreased production of the hormone progesterone. • Decreased male hormone testosterone. 5.
